UNE's 175th Anniversary When St. Francis College and the New England College of Osteopathic Medicine combined in 1978 to create the University of New England, some thought the new name a little grandiose. But Jack Ketchum, president of the new institution, said "We'll grow into it," and he was right.

In little more than two decades the University of New England now has more than 3,800 students, more than 40 undergraduate and graduate programs, two campuses, a satellite campus in Israel, superior facilities and regional and national recognition.

You, as an alumnus of the University of New England, have been a part of these remarkable achievements, and you and your fellow alumni are essential to the future of the University.
