Collection Scope and Content

This collection contains 13 letters, two postcards and documents about Albert Friend. Letters are addressed to Mrs. Albert Friend and Lester.  Friend worked as a chauffeur during the war. His position gave him the opportunity to visit his friend Bob on the front lines. He mentions the terrible conditions for the soldiers on the front line. Friend had a French mistress, the daughter of a Frenchman working with the American Army. He talks about prostitutes; he found them exciting at the beginning of the war, but by the end he is sick of them. Accompanying the letters is a poster.
