The University of New England recognizes that students are allowed under federal subsidized loans to borrow more than the cost of tuition to cover costs such as room/board, books and commuting costs. Such overpayments on account are required to be processed by refund within two weeks unless directed otherwise by the student. UNE is also pleased to be able to electronically deposit work-study payroll disbursements to your account enabling you to use our campus ATM's at your convenience to make withdrawals.

Electronic refunds and/or payroll disbursement must be preauthorized for direct deposit to your personal checking account. To sign up for direct deposit, download the Direct Deposit form or pick-up the Direct Deposit form at the Student Accounts Office at either campus location. Fax or drop-off the form to the Payroll Office listed below:

Student refunds will be mailed to either your home address, your UNE mailbox, or directly deposited into your bank account with preauthorization.

Student refunds can only be issued after the loan disbursements are credited to the account. The loan disbursment schedule is available to download, or visit the Financial Aid page for more information.

Those enrolled in approved monthly payment plans are not eligible for refunds until all payments have been applied each semester.

A student ID or driver's license is required to cash personal checks. Limits for personal checks are $75.00 and $100.00 for payroll checks at the Student Accounts Office at both campus locations. The fee for returned checks is $25.00.

There is full service ATM on the Biddeford Campus and an ATM machine that disburses cash only on the Westbrook College Campus. Both ATM's are owned and operated by TD Banknorth. If you are banking with TD Banknorth (Peoples) the ATM transactions are currently free.
