Meeting the Health Needs of Children and Families in Rural Areas and Underserved Populations

This panel of cross-professional experts will discuss the complexities of determining and meeting the health needs of children and families in rural areas and amongst under-served populations,. Panelists will discuss a range of topics including current research on the use of anti-psychotics with children and their unintended consequences; the importance of early prevention and intervention in oral health and innovative, community-based program in Washington County designed to reach vulnerable children and their families.

Objectives:

1. Understand the complexities of meeting the health needs of children and families in rural environments.

2. Understand risk factors associated with poverty, isolation and exposure to trauma.
