MARY and MOLLY: In The Sprit Of The Ancestors by Donna M. Loring
IT’S  ABOUT VOICE
IT’S  ABOUT STORIES
IT’S  ABOUT BLACK AND BROWN
IT’S ABOUT THE DECISION MARY MAKES ON HER 21ST BIRTHDAY.

Mary is a young African American woman living in Bangor Maine. She finds a letter.
It tells of her Penobscot Indian heritage and the decision that was made by her grandparents to keep that heritage hidden. She learns of Molly Molasses and her daughter Sarah who are her Penobscot Ancestors.
Will she embrace her Penobscot Heritage?

Donna M. Loring’s new play “Mary and Molly: In the Spirit of the Ancestors” will be presented in a reading in the Saint Francis Room of the Ketchum Library on UNE’s Biddeford campus from 12:30-1:30pm. The reading will be directed by acclaimed Native playwright William S. Yellow Robe, Jr.
