Director, Intercultural Student Engagement

UNE Safe Space is a three-hour training program that helps you understand the challenges that many lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer persons experience. The program includes reflective exercises, discussion and interactive activities that help to shape a school culture that is accepting of all people, inclusive of sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, or any other difference. You emerge from the program better prepared to be a supportive and visible ally, and you receive a door sign to let people know you are a “Safe Space,” where they can be open about themselves without fear of criticism or hatred. Everyone deserves to learn and work in an environment that is supportive and friendly, and Safe Space combats the anti-LGBTQ bias that affects school performance and the mental and emotional health of students who experience it.
