Local Sourcing: Sodexo is committed to supporting local community development and sourcing local, seasonal and sustainably grown or raised products. We proudly purchase products from over 700 local farms to feed students and guests in the same state or region.
Stopping Hunger: As much as we source from the community, we also give back to the community. The annual Helping Hands Food Drive is sponsored by the University of New England’s Sodexo Dining Services. Each fall, UNE and Sodexo team up for a community food drive to further efforts to end hunger by donating food to local pantries and soup kitchens. We recruit volunteers and leaders from the student body, University staff and community members. The Kennebunk and Old Orchard Beach high schools, Sodexo's local Student Board of Directors, and UNE faculty, staff and students all play a huge role in making this event a success.
The Sodexo Dining Team partners with residents, commuters, the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine, and University faculty and staff to form the Food Committee. The committee meets once a month to discuss food on campus. The goal of the committee is to focus on continually improving dining on campus.
Representatives from each area solicit feedback from students to share at the meetings. The Sodexo Dining Team brings information to the committee for them to share with other people. Information flows both ways, as we work together to make the best dining program on campus possible.
