Welcome to the Office of International Programs

The Office of International Programs was established at the University of New England to raise awareness and understanding of international affairs on campus, in the community and in the world.

The Office of International Programs promotes the goals of international cooperation and understanding through rigorous academic programs, overseas study opportunities, student-faculty research projects and a host of special programs designed to address current issues in international relations and cultural studies.

Goals of Service

The mission of the Office of International Programs is to provide leadership on global education initiatives by helping to shape and implement the agenda for global education on the campus. In this regard, the office sees its most important priorities to include:

  1. Collaborate with faculty and students to further internationalize the curriculum

  2. Advocate for and help to implement programs of study and academic experiences that prepare students to be globally competent

  3. Identify and support faculty in seeking opportunities to acquire relevant international teaching and research experiences

  4. Engage with student organizations, academic departments and other units to promote cross-cultural understanding on the campus and in the local community

Quote

"We do not receive wisdom, we must discover it for ourselves, after a journey through the wilderness which no one else can make for us, which no one can spare us, for our wisdom is the point of view from which we come at last to regard the world."
   — Marcel Proust
