Undergraduate Program Majors

The Department of Biological Sciences, located on the University Campus in Biddeford, Maine, offers four undergraduate program majors, described below. In addition, all students majoring in biological sciences must fullfill general department requirements, such as two 100-level biology courses and additional chemistry and mathematics courses.

Aquaculture and Aquarium Science

Medical Biology

The medical biology major is designed to provide a strong foundation in the biological sciences for students who ultimately pursue careers in human medicine, dentistry, other health professions (e.g. physical therapy), biomedical research, or the biotechnology industry. Students can choose one of three tracks:

  1. medical sciences track curriculum and
    suggested course sequence
  2. pre-physician assistant track curriculum and
    4 year suggested course sequence
    3/2 suggested course sequence

Psychobiology

Psychobiology major is offered jointly by this department and the Department of Psychology. It is designed for students who will study animals in order to find careers in zoos and parks and who wish to continue their studies of animal behavior in field programs in graduate school. Curriculum
