Students who pursue majors or minors in the University of New England's Department of Chemistry & Physics enjoy the outstanding faculty and the faculty members' concern for and interactions with students. The also appreciate the opportunities to work with faculty members on research projects.

Andrea Pelotte '09, double major in medical biology and biochemistry: "The research that I am conducting with Dr. Amy Deveau for my Honors Thesis has been most important to my professional development.  We are synthesizing and characterizing opiate derivatives that may be utilized as a means to help people with opiate addiction." Danielle Woodall '09, a chemistry and marine biology double major: "I am currently doing research in chemistry with Dr. Mullin. ... Working in the chemistry lab has taught me not only chemistry but what it means to be a researcher.  I learned the importance of a lab notebook that is extremely detailed and organized.  I also learned the skills needed to present my research to others who are not involved in chemistry related fields. Tara Verville '06, a biochemistry major: " I have been doing research with Dr. Amy Morin Deveau for the last 2 ½ years working on an organic chemistry/medicinal chemistry research project. Kelsey Walton '06, a medical biology major and chemistry minor: "Throughout my four years at UNE, I have only accumulated positive experiences within the biology and chemistry departments. ...
