Education
I chose the University of New England's Master's Degree in Education Distance Learning Program because I work full-time and I have a family.
This program offered the flexibility I needed to fit my schedule. In addition, a master's degree is required in the state of New York for permanent certification, so earning a master's was important to me.
One of the main ways I have changed as a teacher as a result of earning my master's degree in education (M.S.Ed.) is that I am able to provide my students with the ability to take more responsibility for their own learning. By implementing a variety of teaching techniques presented in the M.S.Ed. Program, I am more organized in communicating with parents, staff, students, and administrators.
Our students need skills that have not previously been the focus of education. UNE's M.S.Ed. Program allowed me to discover and incorporate skills that address these student needs, including abstraction, systems thinking, experimental inquiry, and collaboration.
