Education
Undergraduate Programs
The Department of Education offers five undergraduate programs. Click on the links below for information on each program. All programs also have general requirements.
- Undergraduate Elementary Education Program (K-8) for students completing a four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor of science degree with a major in elementary education and earning a Maine certification to teach in grades K-8.
- Undergraduate Secondary Education Program(7-12) linked with a major in Biology, Chemistry, English, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, History, Political Science or Mathematics.
- Post-baccalaureate Teacher Certification Option for students who wish to pursue study in secondary education (physical sciences, life sciences, social studies, mathematics, or English) in grades 7-12 or elementary education in grades K-8.
- Art Education Program for students completing a four-year curriculum leading to a bachelor of arts degree in art education and eligibility for Maine visual arts certification (K-12).
- B.S. in Educational Studies for students who wish to learn educational theory and teaching skills and plan to practice outside a K-12 school setting. Not eligible for Maine Teacher Certification.
