Careers for English Majors

Through a variety of theoretical approaches, students not only learn how to analyze the heavily textualized world around them, they also develop sophisticated insights into the world’s multiple cultural traditions.

Many occupations today require a college-educated individual who can write and speak well, solve problems, research, learn new information quickly, and work well with others on a team.

An English major also provides an excellent foundation for graduate programs, such advanced study in English and cultural studies, law, education, journalism, communications, marketing, library science, social work, and business, to name a few.
