Meredith Geraghty '06, Kenya

Randy Morrison '06, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua
Environmental studies and science majors can work with the University of New England's Global Education Program to select an appropriate program from a wide variety of study abroad programs with strong environmental content.
- Our students have spent semesters conducting ecological field research and learning about community based conservation in Kenya with the School for Field Studies; others have spent a semester in Nicaragua, El Salvador, and Guatemala with Augsburg College's Center for Global Education studying the intersection of social and environmental justice while working with local communities and organizations on a variety of projects.
- Environmental Studies faculty member Dr. Rick Peterson also plans to offer a semester long course on Environment and Development in East Africa that will culminate with a 2-3 week field experience in western Kenya. Students will explore the intersection of ecological and human health, visiting and working with a variety of local organizations seeking to improve environmental, social, and economic conditions around Lake Victoria.
