Personal Interests

My life is not so much a quest to reach a goal as it is to experience the greatness of life itself and the vastness of the life experience. I merge my professional and personal interests into the life journey - an immersion where experience, teaching, storytelling, hobbies, traveling and intellectual pursuits are combined in an effort to seek insight and hopefully, enlightenment.  For this reason I go on daily walks through the woods, often with my great buddy, my dog.

My home and gardens, in an effort to create an edible yard, provide shelter and solace and a quiet place to contemplate while allowing me to practice my hand at sustainable, organic agriculture. I appreciate the art of cooking, and eating by a fire, as times of great conversation and learning. A youthful spirit is healthy, and laughing is one of my favorite things. I play and work equally hard; for play I walk, jog, hike, garden, cycle, read, paddle, and adventure most anywhere; for work I like to do most any physical labor, especially tasks requiring a shovel, axe or hand tool, and at my job I attempt to find the spirit in students in regard to their professional pursuits, assisting them in finding internship sites that fulfill their highest wishes.

An avid environmentalist, I will always enjoy teaching young adults about basic environmental issues, and I myself do my best to practice sustainable living and an environmental ethic. As a hobby I study the coyote, canis latrans. And one day soon I hope to learn to play the zylaphone and wooden flute.
