How did we get here?  Where are we going?  The answers to these and many other questions can be found by studying history at the University of New England.  Here, students not only study the past, they "do history" as they learn to think, read, and write like historians.  Our emphasis on modern American, European, and Latin American history prepares students with the practical analytical, interpretive, and critical thinking skills employers desire in every career field today.

Programs: The department, located on UNE's seaside University Campus in Biddeford, Maine, offers a major and minor in history.  Specific courses of study are designed to meet student's individual goals--whether that be preparing for graduate study or pursuing careers in business, museums, law, politics, and beyond.  Students interested in middle or high school teaching can opt for an integrated program in history and secondary education ...
