The Department of Marine Sciences at the University of New England provides innovative, student-centered marine programs connected directly to Maine's coastal communities. But what makes us different?
With our campus situated at the mouth of the Saco River Estuary as it enters Saco Bay, the Gulf of Maine, and the Atlantic Ocean, you'll have direct and immediate access to an array of marine and estuarine environments.
Our state-of-the-art Arthur P. Girard Marine Science Center offers brand-new classrooms, modern equipment, flow-through seawater labs and more. We've also got a fleet of research vessels and Ram Island, our own private living laboratory.
We've designed our academic programs around the marine industry's current and future needs so that our graduates can contribute to the marine economy in a variety of ways. At UNE, you'll gain the experience and skills you need to stand out to future employers.
Our faculty are leaders in their fields. And with our program size, you'll benefit from small classes and opportunities to work closely with them and support their innovative research.
