Not only do you find an abundance of research opportunities in our trailblazing Marine Science Center, but UNE's ideal coastal setting allows you to explore the ocean, estuaries, freshwater marshes, large lakes, ponds and major river drainage basins just minutes from campus.
Beginning as early as your freshman year and continuing through your senior year, you are encouraged to engage in for-credit marine internships. The College of Arts and Sciences Internship Office guides you in researching, applying for and completing internships. Consider an internship over the summer back home, part-time during the semester, or even overseas. Through an internship, you apply your growing classroom knowledge to real world scenarios while networking in the field and exploring marine-related careers. Internship positions held by previous Marine Sciences students include ones at aquariums, government agencies, marine research facilities, laboratories, research vessels, marine education camps and schools, marine rehabilitation and veterinary centers, and nonprofit marine conservation organizations. The semester prior to your internship, begin the application process by contacting the College of Arts and Sciences Internship Office.
