The bachelor of science in mathematics provides students with a strong theoretical grounding in the major branches of mathematics and exposure to a variety of applications in mathematics and other disciplines. Secondary Teacher Certification
The secondary teacher certification option includes mathematics and education courses required for teacher certification in Maine and approximately 28 other states. Students choosing this option participate in a mathematics education research seminar. The College of Arts and Sciences core curriculum adds a strong liberal arts foundation to the mathematics major. Minor in Mathematics
Students may take a minor in Mathematics by meeting the requirements outlined in the catalog. Specific courses for a minor will be determined in consultation with a mathematics faculty advisor and approved by the Department of Mathematical Sciences faculty.
