Unique Facilities and Opportunities

Students majoring in psychology, psychobiology, and psychology and social relations benefit from University of New England's unique resources, including the University of New England's state-of-the-art Marine Science Education and Research Center, the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center, and College of Osteopathic Medicine, which is Maine's only medical school.

  Psychobiology Lab and Cognitive/Social Psychology Labs
These labs are dedicated solely to the research projects of faculty members in the Psychology Department. Students have opportunities to work with faculty members on variety of research projects, such as behavioral treatment of motion sickness, trust and forgiveness in close relationships and friendships, development of strategies for coping with stress in children, factors that influence reconstructive memory, the relationship between nervous system responses and political attitudes, communication patterns in autistic children, long-term relationship in a lesbian couple, factors influencing the training of zebra fish, body dysmorphic disorder, and resilience in children and adults.

Undergraduate students work with medical school faculty on a variety of biomedical research projects. Website
