Student and Alumni Profiles
Students who have chosen women's studies as a minor enjoy the program’s multicultural and interdisciplinary approach to culture, and the close relationships they form with the faculty.
Below are some links to profiles of some of our students and alumni who share their experiences as students minoring in women's studies.
Camille Smalley '08, an English major with a minor in women's studies, spent the fall semester 2006 on research that looks at societal expectations of women during the early twentieth-century and how the state chose to deal with those "bad girls" who didn’t conform. Profile.
Glorya Laughton '06: "Well, as a UNE student there are core classes that have to be fulfilled and for one of them I took Women and the American Experience with Beth DeWolfe. I LOVED the class, and I loved learning about women and what they had done in history. ... when Beth told me that there was going to be a minor available in women's studies, I told her to sign me UP!" Profile.
Brady Potter '06: "While the English Department and Women's Studies Department are not the largest departments at UNE, I honestly feel that they are some of the strongest. What I like most about UNE and these two departments is the welcoming atmosphere." Profile.
