Opportunities to serve Monday-Friday from 2:00p.m.-5:00p.m.
Each child comes to the Community Bicycle Center with their own story, but common threads have surfaced: poverty, learning disabilities, poor academic performance, social issues and legal problems. Most have limited or non-existent participation in structured after-school activities. Combining these factors with questionable supportive networks, a considerable number of the youth live in what are considered at-risk situations. They live in a world of limited opportunities and uncertain futures. We strive to be part of creating more positive outcomes for these kids. The Community Bicycle Center facilitates youth development programs that equip youth living in Biddeford and surrounding communities with life skills, physical health, mentoring, and asset-building experiences. We use hands-on bicycle maintenance, cycling, and community service activities to develop thriving attitudes, behaviors, and skills in participants.
