College Community Mentoring Program (CCMP) is a volunteer mentoring program whose goal is to engage the students of the University of New England (UNE) in the community by serving as consistent, reliable adult role models for local children and youth.
Mentors build a structured and trusting relationship with their mentees by offering guidance, support, encouragement, and academic assistance. Through the CCMP mentoring relationship, UNE mentors help young people develop into confident, competent, and contributing members of society. In turn, student-mentors strengthen their dedication to the community and thoughtfully enhance their college experience.
The University of New England through the CCMP partners with schools, agencies, and organizations such as the Northern York County YMCA, Biddeford Primary School, Alternative Education Program of Biddeford Middle School (BMS), BMS Civil Rights Team, BMS Homework Club, BMS Student Assistance Team, John F. Kennedy School of Biddeford, Biddeford Public School System, Consolidated School of Kennebunkport, Sea Road School of Kennebunk, Crossroads Youth Center of Saco, and Project SAFE and SMART of Portland.
College Community Mentoring Program is dedicated to providing positive role models to local children grades K-8 and developing their academic, social, and emotional skills. The Program also serves to enrich our mentors’ collegiate experience and encourage life-long civic engagement.
