Founded in 2002, the Center for Health Ethics, Law and Policy was established by the College of Health Professions at the University of New England to address the educational needs of health-care students and professionals, policy makers, health-care providers and the public who are struggling with some of the most important health-care questions facing society - autonomy, stewardship of resources, and increased evidence of health disparities among vulnerable and stigmatized populations.

Consistent with UNE's mission to serve both individual practitioners and consumers, the Center focuses on ethical issues affecting every day clinical practice as well as examining the broad ethical and legal issues affecting health care and efforts at health-care reform.

Through its educational offerings, community outreach and, policy research, the Center promotes ethical decision-making by providers and the public and reinforces the rights and dignity of the individual.

The Center will be a catalyst for education, research and policy development on a range of issues involving the interface of health-care delivery, allocation of resources and patient care.

I2H2
Through the close interaction of the College of Health Professions’ eight programs, UNE has created a dynamic, innovative model for the education of health professionals.

Integrated, Interdisciplinary Health and Healing (I2H2) education, training, research and practice is a multi-faceted approach for preparing health professionals to work collaboratively as members of health-care teams to promote the best possible care and health outcomes. The I2H2 model provides the perfect framework for the College of Health Professions’ Center for Health Ethics, Law and Policy and its goal to reach all health professions and consumers.
