Policies and Procedures SPRING/FALL 2006
Undergraduate/Graduate Credit Courses/Workshops
The University welcomes individuals who wish to take a course for personal enrichment, for teaching credential certification, for exploring degree programs, or for meeting other educational goals. Daytime, evening or weekend courses/workshops may be taken during the fall and spring semesters, or summer session. Through the Office of Continuing Professional Education, students may earn either undergraduate/graduate credit or continuing education units (CEUs). Students may also audit courses.
Tuition/Fees Credit Courses: Non-matriculated/matriculated students may enroll in CHP undergraduate/graduate level courses during Spring/Fall at the current applicable per credit hour rate of that major. Senior citizens (60+) may enroll for half tuition on a space available basis. Students may audit courses at a rate of $250 per course undergraduate and $535 per course graduate. Refer to the University of New England handbook for educational discounted benefits for employees and families in section 4.08. There is a $10 non-refundable registration fee per semester for credit courses. FULL payment is required at the time of registration.
Directed Study – Undergraduate/Graduate Directed Study: Directed study courses fall into two categories: program requirements, and independent studies. In the first case, the student must petition and demonstrate a need to complete a program requirement by directed study. This need must be of an urgent and pre-emptive nature and will be certified by the academic advisor, department chair/program director and the dean. If approved, the student will be assigned a faculty member as study director. In the second case, the student desiring an independent study outside of the University’s course offerings must plan a study curriculum with a qualified faculty member who is willing to serve as study director. Again, this is subject to approval by the academic advisor, department chair/program director and dean. In both instances, during times when classes are convened, if the directed study falls within the 12-18 credit hour course load, no additional tuition charge will be made; otherwise, the student will pay for an overload. For directed studies during the Summer Session, the student will pay applicable rate per credit hour.
Workshop/Non-Credit Courses: The Office of Continuing Professional Education will offer non-credit courses/ workshops at various times throughout the year to be offered to the public, matriculated students, faculty & staff. The fee schedule will be as follows: The public will pay the published rate per workshop. Matriculated students, faculty & staff will pay a discounted rate of 50% minus any registration fees on a space available basis.

CEUs (Continuing Education Units) are awarded for each module and a master certificate is awarded for the completion of the entire Project Management Certificate Program.
