A.S., B.S. Dental Hygiene
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Katy A. Mower. I graduated from the University of New England in May of 2003 with my associate degree in dental hygiene and in May 2004 with my bachelor of science in dental hygiene.
I am from Windsor, Vermont. The reason that I chose the University of New England was because of its national ranking in dental hygiene and its location in the state of Maine. I feel that the Dental Hygiene Program is an excellent way to be involved with the public health care system. For anyone interested in a fulfilling occupation that is ever changing, dental hygiene is the profession to choose.
I like the University of New England because it is a small campus with a lot of personal attention. The teachers are always willing to go above and beyond to make sure that their students are successful and well prepared for their future.
The clinical experiences that I received while at the University of New England provided me with an extensive understanding of oral health and the importance of a strong patient-client relationship.
Now that I have my bachelor's degree, I plan on taking a year off from studies to work in the hygiene field and then apply to UNE for the Masters in Public Health program. I realized that I have enjoyed my field of dental health immensely and want to continue on with my education in such studies.
