The University of New England's 2 + 2 nursing education model provides opportunities to enter the program at multiple points depending upon prior education and experience.
This model is embodied in UNE's comprehensive, integrated program of nursing education. It is a fully articulated program that provides opportunities for both the traditional and non-traditional student on a completely flexible basis.

| Enter the program as a student seeking a nursing degree. | |
| Year Two | |
| Earn an associate degree in nursing and continue in the program to achieve a bachelor of science in nursing (BSN), or step out into the professional world with the option of returning for the completion of the BSN in the future. | |

| Registered nurses who have graduated from a diploma-based or associate degree nursing program may enter the BSN program at this point. | |
| Year Four | |
| Earn a bachelor's degree in nursing and continue in the professional world with the option of applying to the UNE's School of Nurse Anesthesia after a year of acute care experience or to other master's degree programs. | |
