Student Profiles

Students in the University of New England's nursing programs like the supportive faculty, the outstanding clinical experiences, and the University's Integrated, Interdisciplinary Health and Healing Initiative.

Below are some links to profiles of some of our students and alumni, who share their experiences as students in the Department of Nursing:

Jennifer Lamb'04, B.S.N, A.D.N., R.N.

Nursing Major in B.S.N. Program: "One of the things I have always been impressed with is the willingness of my nursing professors to spend the extra time to facilitate the best possible outcomes for myself and my class members. The professors are there for me in many ways, and UNE should be proud to have them." Profile.

Pete O'Donnell '09: " I am struck by the level of commitment that the faculty shows to the students and their success. The professors are student centered and are willing to go beyond the classroom to help students learn the important elements of nursing." Profile.

Melissa Poirier '08
Nursing Major in the Associate’s Degree in Nursing Program: "I chose to attend UNE because of the reputation the school carries not only in the southern Maine area but throughout New England and beyond.  I was also excited to be able to gain nursing experience in some of the best hospitals in the country; this is what UNE and the Portland area have right at your doorstep." Profile.

Haley Stevens '03, '05, A.D.N., B.S.N., R.N.

Nursing Major in B.S.N. Program: "I feel that I received the best education while attending UNE. Its nursing program is truly the best in the state. The clinical experiences are done at a variety of hospitals in the area, so that when you graduate, you have a good idea of the facility where you would like to be employed." Profile.

Elisabeth Thoma '04, B.S.N, R.N., CCRN,

Baccalaureate Completion Program in Nursing: "UNE made it easy to be a returning student. Integration of instruction for all health care professions allows for greater understanding of each other's roles. The University's Integrated, Interdisciplinary Health and Healing Initiative (I2H2) was a welcome program, for a working nurse of 20 years, to see. Participating in this program was an exciting opportunity." Profile.
