External Users of the Clinical Simulation Program

A National Guard unit trains at the Clinical Simulation Program
The Clinical Simulation Program can provide hands-on training opportunities for a wide range of health care professionals. Audiences include Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Military personnel, as well as physicians and nurses.

Physicians-in-training, both at the resident and fellow levels benefit from their time in the UNE Clinical Simulation Lab.  Under the direct guidance of attending physicians, physicians-in-training work to sharpen their clinical assessment, clinical integration and team skills.

Training programs for external users may include:

  • Advanced airway skills, including LMAs and surgical airways
  • Trauma management
  • Provider and re-certification courses for American Heart Association courses:
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Management of common medical emergencies for the general dentistry practice
  • EMT proficiency training

Customized training programs can be designed to meet the individual needs of  any institution or organization.

Simulated Clinical Settings

  • Dentists work with a simulated patient Emergency department treatment rooms or trauma bays
  • Operating rooms
  • Adult and pediatric ICU
  • Nursing units
  • Residential mock-ups of living and bedrooms





Continuing Professional Education

Courses offered by the UNE Clinical Simulation Program offer continuing education credits for physicians (CMEs), dentists (CEUs) and EMS providers (CEHs) through the UNE College of Health Professions Continuing Professional Education program.
