3 Plus 4 Programs
Three plus four programs provide an opportunity for bright, mature and ambitious students to complete a baccalaureate degree from the partner college or university and then a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in seven years.
The UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine has established articulation agreements with a few select undergraduate institutions, whereby a qualified candidate applies to the College of Osteopathic Medicine during their junior year and begin osteopathic medical studies at the University of New England in what would traditionally be the senior year of college. Acceptance into the undergraduate college and pursuing the three plus four tract does not in any way guarantee acceptance to the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Qualified three plus four candidates are guaranteed an interview, and may be interviewed before successfully completing all academic requirements and the MCAT. Conditional acceptances may be offered to desirable candidates, pending the completion of all academic requirements and achieving a specific target MCAT score. The baccalaureate degree is generally not awarded until the successful completion of the first year of osteopathic medical studies at the University of New England.
UNE College of Arts and Sciences
Biddeford, Maine
University of New England College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) students in the medical sciences track of the medical biology major may qualify to apply for early admission to the College of Osteopathic Medicine. The CAS/COM 3+4 program requires that CAS students maintain a minimum GPA of 3.00 overall and in all science courses, and take the MCAT admissions test in the spring semester of the sophomore year. Springfield College
Springfield, Massachusetts
Students should declare their intention to enter the accelerated program by notifying the Springfield College Premedical Professions Advisory Committee and their advisor by the end of their sophomore year. Students must successfully complete the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) with an overall score of 23 and at least an "M" on the written section. Students must take the MCAT no later then August immediately preceding their junior year. To foster increased training of physicians for Maine, the University of Maine and the University of New England have established an articulation agreement offering UMaine students majoring in biology, biochemistry or microbiology an opportunity to be interviewed and admitted to the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine after three years at UMaine. Students accepted into the UMaine program become candidates for reserved slots at the University of New England. Utica College

Utica College and the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine offer a highly selective program that allows qualified students the opportunity to enter the UNE College of Osteopathic Medicine after three years of undergraduate work. The Utica College Admissions Committee will interview all interested students during their senior year of high school to determine acceptability. Applicants must rank in the top 20% of their high school class, score at least 1,100 on the SAT I or 26 on the ACT, and demonstrate a good understanding of osteopathic medicine.
