The Area Health Education Center (AHEC)
is located on the University Campus in Biddeford. The University of New England offers two fully articulated graduate programs in public health. The Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Public Health and Master of Public Health degree (MPH) are offered full or part time with most of the courses offered in a distance learning online format. The Coastal Healthy Communities Coalition (CHCC), located on the University Campus in Biddeford, was one of 31 coalitions funded by the Bureau of Health with Maine’s tobacco settlement monies. The CHCC’s main goals are to promote and support tobacco prevention and cessation activities as well as encouraging life-long physical activity and nutritional habits. The Epidemiology Department is located on the University Campus in Biddeford. This department explores the factors contributing to the state of health in various human populations and the role of prevention in improving health.

The Maine Geriatric Education Center is developing a coordinated interdisciplinary program of educational advocacy, professional development, and constituent services for Maine elders and those who care for elders in Maine.
