Welcome from the Dean
Welcome to the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.
Entering our fourth decade of excellence in osteopathic medical education in New England, the College has proudly maintained its core mission while building an international reputation for innovation and for premier centers of excellence in geriatrics, primary care, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and neuroscience and pain research.
Recognized as one of the best regional universities in the Northeast by U.S. News & World Report, the University of New England offers a wide array of degree-granting programs in its College of Osteopathic Medicine and its partner colleges: the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Pharmacy, and the College of Health Professions.
While it may be hard to rival the picturesque and tranquil location on the beach along southern Maine’s alluring seacoast, the College’s innovative “Patient First Curriculum” and world renowned faculty contribute to dynamic and engaging educational programs that transform students into professionals who always “put the patient first.”
Leading the way into the new millennium, the College has emerged with strong clinical education programs at its major affiliate health care systems throughout New England and the Middle Atlantic States, an integrated program in simulation-based medical education, flexible distance education programs in biomedical sciences, medical education leadership and public health, and state-of-the-art laboratories for the study of human anatomy and osteopathic manipulative medicine. Our spectacular campus has been further strengthened in 2008 with the opening of the Pickus Center for Biomedical Research.
Thank you for your interest in the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. We look forward to your personal visit and welcome the opportunity to get to know you along the way.
Sincerely,
John R. Gimpel, D.O., M.Ed.
