Authors

Authors can submit manuscripts, reports and reviews in electronic format (MS Word) with one hard copy original to:

All persons listed as authors must have:

  1. Participated sufficiently in the work to take public responsibility for the content.
  2. Made substantial contributions to the conception and design or analysis and interpretation of data, and to drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content.
  3. Given final approval of the version of the article to be published.

Copyright Transfer

The submission of the manuscript by the authors means that the authors automatically agree to assign exclusive copyright to the University of New England Journal of Population Health if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication.

Title Page

Complete name of author(s), including degrees, title, and affiliation.  Email and residential address of corresponding author.

Abstract

Provide a comprehensive summary (<250 words) of the article under the following headings:

  • Objective, Subject(s), Methods, Findings, Results.
  • Unstructured abstracts (<150 words) are acceptable for case reports and brief communications.

Format of Manuscripts

  • Optimal manuscript length not to exceed 14 pages of pica (12-point) type.
  • Use double-spacing throughout (including references and legends for tables and figures).
  • Number each page.
  • Running title in right upper corner of each page of the manuscript.
  • Submit an original (hardcopy) and electronic version. 

References

  • Refer to the AMA Manual of Style, 10th edition.
  • Follow examples below for style and abbreviations. List all authors when 6 or fewer; when 7 or more, list only the first 3 and add "et al".
  • All references must be cited in numerical order in text and listed in that order in reference list.

Tables, Graphs, and Figures

  • Number each table according to sequence in text (using Arabic numbers).
  • Type title on top of table next to table number and define any abbreviations.
  • Place any footnotes at bottom of table.
  • Place reference numbers with the title.
  • If a table or figure has been previously published, credit must be given to the original source and written permission obtained and submitted with manuscript.
  • Save tables, graphs, figures, and pictures in separate files.

Review

All manuscripts, once reviewed by the Editor, are submitted anonymously to reviewers on the journal’s Editorial Board.  Editorial Board members read and rank these papers, selecting the top papers for the edition of the UNE Journal of Population Health.  Manuscripts are accepted for publication subject to copyediting and transfer of copyright to the University of New England's College of Osteopathic Medicine.
