Online Anatomy for the Health Professions

This online course is designed to meet the anatomy prerequisite for students who are applying for admission to health profession programs. Most students taking this online course will have an undergraduate degree and will be in the process of a career change. Online Anatomy is a one-semester course with a virtual laboratory. It will emphasize the concepts that are a necessary groundwork for courses the student will take in his/her professional studies.

Online Anatomy for the Health Professions contains the same major subject and content areas as traditional human anatomy courses taught on campus. However, all online course material is on the web or sent through the mail. The lectures are available via streaming videos. Lecture notes, reading objectives, exams and assigned problems will be in Blackboard. Communication with the instructor will be by both e-mail and telephone.

The laboratory is accomplished at a distance using a human prosection guide, which interfaces with virtual human cadaver software.

Professor Mark B. Frasier has been teaching and coordinating undergraduate and graduate courses in gross human anatomy and advanced human dissection for over twenty-six years. His dedication to teaching has been attested to by his students and peers on numerous occasions: CVMBS Innovative Teaching in Undergraduate Education (2002) and Graduate Education (2003); Best Class on Campus, Voted by CSU Student Body, (1997 and 2001); Best Professor on Campus, voted by CSU student body, (2001); and Best Teacher Award, CSU Alumni Association, 1998.

The typical student will complete this online course in approximately 15 weeks. Students may enroll at any time.  Many students are nontraditional students who have elected an on-line course for it's flexibility.  Therefore, students may complete the course in less than 16 weeks.  Extensions beyond 16 weeks (not to exceed 35 weeks) may be granted by the course instructor.   Prerequisite(s): College level Biology (must have been successfully completed within the past 7 years).
