Online Medical General Chemistry II
Online Medical General Chemistry II is equivalent to a one semester course with a laboratory designed for individuals with a baccalaureate degree who need second semester general chemistry as a prerequisite to apply for admission to health professions' programs. These may include graduate programs in medicine, veterinary medicine, dental medicine, nursing, physical therapy, and physician assistant.
To give the student interested in the health professions an introduction to general chemistry emphasizing the concepts that will be important for and provide the basis for the subjects the student will encounter in his/her future studies. These subjects covered in this course include mixtures, trends in the periodic table, organic chemistry, kinetics, chemical equilibrium, acid-base equilibria, thermodynamics, \electrochemistry, elements in nature, chemistry of transition elements, and nuclear chemistry.bonding, theories of covalent bonding, shapes of molecules and intermolecular forces of liquids, and solids.
The course is designed to take lecture and lab concurrently for four credits. However, you have the option to take lecture only (three credits) or lab only (one credit). You need to specify during registration that you want to take lab only or lecture only, otherwise it will be assumed that you want to take both. Please contact COM distance for cost at 602-2494.
