Registration Information for Statistics for the Health Professions

Enrollment

There are two ways to enroll in the course:

  1. You may print and fax the registration form and send to COM Distance Education at 207-602-5931 or mail it to COM Distance Education, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, 11 Hills Beach Road, Biddeford, ME 04005.
  2. You may call COM Distance Online Education at 207-602-2494 and your information will be taken over the phone.
You may enroll any day the University is open and your course material will be sent following receipt of your credit card number or check. Your official start date is the day you receive the course materials. Materials are usually shipped via UPS and most students receive them within a week to 10 days after they register.

Technology Requirements for the Course

This is an Internet based course. You will need to have a computer with a Sound Card, Speakers, DVD/CD-ROM Drive and Internet access.  Recommended T1, DSL, Cable or Satellite high speed connection.

  • Mac OS X 10.4 or later
  • 1GHz or faster processor
  • 512MB of RAM or more
  • 2 GB of free disk space
  • 1024x768 24-bit or higher display
  • Internet connection

PC

  • Microsoft Windows XP or later
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later
  • 1GHz or faster processor
  • 512MB of RAM or more
  • 2 GB of free disk space
  • 1024x768 24-bit or higher display
  • Internet connection

Required Additional Software

You will need to purchase SPSS 16. You can get a 6 month rental by going to the website http://estore.e-academy.com. In the “Product Search” box, type “SPSS 16.” A 6 month rental will suffice for this course. Be sure to purchase the Mac or Windows version that is appropriate for you. See "Tuition & Fees" on the right for the cost of the kit. Do not purchase this software until you are instructed to do so. You only have a 6 month rental, so I want you to wait to purchase it until you need it in the course.

Technical Specifications from ProctorU.com

The University of New England has contracted with ProctorU.com to provide students in DPPP 330 the most convenient, at home, on line exam proctoring system.  This system provides a simple, no cost to the student, secure, on line proctor for all of your DPPP 330 exams.

This system allows the student to take all of the exams at home and on their own schedule. Please see system requirements to ensure you have the necessary computer setup to use ProctorU. 

  • PC: Windows XP or Windows Vista with 256 MB of RAM or higher Mac: Mac OS10 or higher
  • A web cam with 640x480 video pixel resolution
  • Headphones or working speakers connected to the computer
  • A microphone connected to the computer (we recommend having a web cam that has a built in microphone)
  • A high speed internet connection (minimum 768 Kbps/128 Kbps)
  • A web browser with Adobe Flash Player installed. (Flash Player 10 recommended)
  • Authority to allow remote access to your computer and screen by one of our proctors

  1. Online Proctoring Center
    For instruction on how to take your exams online, visit Online Learning's ProctorU site.
  2. Written Proctored Exam
