Graduate Programs
in Public Health

The mission of public health is to provide leadership in helping to protect communities from threats to health, mobilize efforts to promote community and individual health, and foresee and prevent disease and injury.

Agencies with responsibility for public health can only carry out their missions if they have adequate capacity to fulfill the core functions of public health. Many studies have documented a critical need to better prepare the U.S. workforce to address core public health services.

The University of New England offers two fully articulated graduate programs. Working adults and post-baccalaureate students can now earn a Graduate Certificate in Public Health (GCPH) and a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) full or part time with most of the courses offered in a distance learning online format.

These two programs, offered through UNE’s College of Osteopathic Medicine, are designed to be flexible and practical. The vast majority of courses for the two programs are offered online in an integrated video and Powerpoint format. The MPH curriculum also includes a workplace-based practicum. 

Faculty members are highly knowledgeable health-care professionals with real-world experience in their fields.

These very convenient, flexible programs, which are focused on practice and management, provide students with the basic knowledge, skills and values to gain employment or get promoted in the burgeoning field of public health.
