UNE Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships

Summer 2004
The University of New England is soliciting applications for Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships for 2004. These fellowships are funded by the American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics with matching funds provided by the office of the Vice President of Academic Affairs at the University of New England. The purpose of these fellowships are to introduce undergraduate students to pharmacology research in order to heighten their interest in pursuing graduate training in the pharmacological sciences.

Undergraduates chosen for these fellowships will conduct pharmacology-related research for a minimum of eight weeks under the direction of faculty sponsors at the University of New England and the University of Southern Maine. In addition to the research component, students are also required to actively participate in the summer seminar series in biomedical research. A list of faculty members participating in this program is provided at the end of this document along with a brief description of their research interests.

Each fellowship provides a $2,500 stipend. Additional funding may be available through the individual faculty member and ASPET typically provides travel awards for SURF fellows to attend and present at the annual Experimental Biology meeting. A limited number of on-campus housing slots may be made available for students selected as SURF fellows.

The application packet is provided as part of this electronic file. Please complete all fields and submit four (4) copies of the completed application to Angela Morse, Office of Basic Sciences-Stella Maris, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, Maine 04005.
