What We Do

The primary goal of UNECOM's Office of Constituent Services is to help prospective and current students as well as alumni. The information on this page will give you a "snapshot" of what we do; however, it certainly is not all-inclusive. If you have a simple question or a more complicated need, we hope to be able to assist you; please feel free to contact us at
comsa@une.edu or 207-602-2329. We consider our office a "one stop shop"--meaning that if we don't have an answer for you, we'll get one.

We Coordinate Events:

  • Prospective student receptions and campus visits
  • Orientation
  • Leadership development lectures, workshops and opportunities
  • Commencement
  • The White Coat Ceremony
  • COM Deans' Roundtable
  • Awards Ceremony
  • Alumni Reunion Weekend
  • Alumni receptions at state and national conferences

We Advocate for Medical Students

  • PatandSheldonsmallWork to create a comfortable campus environment for medical students
  • Maintain regular communication with various offices with which students interact
  • Advocate for individual needs and issues as well as for the medical student population
  • Work with faculty and administrators to ensure concerns and issues are addressed
  • Present and send information to the campus community about needs and issues
  • Serve on several University-wide committees

We Advise and Support Student Clubs and Organizations

  • Representative's Council (of Student Trustee and four distinct student governments)
  • COM Student Government Association
  • Over 35 medical student organizations
  • Orientation Committee
  • Admission interviewers and tour guides
  • Medical Spanish classes

We Are an Important Communication Link

  • Publish The COMmunicator, e-newsletter, that includes articles of interest  for current students, faculty and staff, as well as current applicants, and alumni
  • Communicate to potential and incoming students, students on third- and fourth-year clinical rotations, and alumni
  • Cultivate productive relationships with pre-med advisors
  • Emergency contact for families needing to reach students
  • Referral resource for offices and departments across campus

Other Responsibilities

  • Handle excused absences requests
  • Assist students with grievances and disciplinary issues
  • Encourage and facilitate student involvement in the UNE Community through clubs and organizations, university-wide committees, and student government
