Entrance and Exit Interviews

Entrance Interviews for Student Loan Borrowers
(For students who are starting a program at the University)

First-time borrowers of the Federal Stafford Loan at the University of New England are required to complete a student loan entrance interview before they can receive their loan proceeds. The purpose of the entrance interview is to provide the student with important information regarding their rights and responsibilities as a student loan borrower. You may complete the
entrance interview online by clicking here

First time borrowers of the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan must also complete entrance counseling for the Graduate PLUS Loan.

If you are a first time borrower of both the Federal Stafford Loan and the Federal Graduate PLUS Loan, you may complete a combined Entrance Counseling Session for both programs.

Exit Interviews for Student Loan Borrowers
( For students who are leaving or graduating from the University, or are enrolled less than half time)

Students who have borrowed Federal Stafford Loans while attending the University of New England must complete a student loan exit interview prior to leaving the University. The purpose of the exit interview is to provide the student with important information regarding loan repayment, including deferments, grace periods, loan consolidation, and loan default. Exit interview sessions are scheduled toward the end of each semester, and upcoming graduates are notified of these sessions. Students who cannot attend the scheduled sessions also have the option of completing the
exit interview online by clicking here.   This option is recommended for students enrolled in the Master of Science in Education and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Leadership programs.

Students who have borrowed through the Federal Perkins Loan and / or Nursing Student Loan programs will also be required to complete additional exit interview paperwork with the University Collections Office prior to leaving the University.
