Preserve the
Westbrook College Legacy
Restore Goddard Hall
The Westbrook College campus has always been unique. For over 175 years the school in all its variations has been a center for higher education and has championed the value of service to the community and society.
The buildings that are the visible face of Westbrook College, Westbrook Junior College and Westbrook Seminary, have been in existence starting in 1834 and are perhaps the strongest symbol of the enduring Westbrook legacy. Some are over 150 years old and still retain the warmth and charm that Westbrook alumni experienced during their years at the school.
Many of these buildings have been renovated, providing better-functioning learning spaces for current and future students, while retaining the beauty and charm of the past. With the tremendous growth on this campus, and exciting new programs, including a planned new College of Pharmacy, the need for revitalization continues.
We are moving into the next exciting chapter of restoring the Campus with plans to renovate Goddard Hall. Built in 1857 as one of the first buildings of Westbrook Seminary and named after major donor Thomas A. Goddard, Goddard Hall fell into disrepair and closed in the 1990’s. As an important landmark in Westbrook history and part of a national historic district, it is important for the University to restore Goddard to the vitality of its past.
A newly-restored Goddard will make it possible for students from the College of Health Professions and very soon, students in the new College of Pharmacy to participate in exceptional educational opportunities.
