Service Specialties
Counseling
Our professional counselors or counselor educators are the linchpin to helping clients with the challenges that they face each and every day. All counselors are certified by the American Counseling Association.
Family Practice
Family practice is the medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for the individual and the family. It is the specialty in breadth that integrates the biological, clinical and behavioral sciences. The scope of family practice encompasses all ages, both sexes, each organ system and every disease entity.
Geriatric Medicine
Geriatrics is that branch of general medicine concerned with the clinical, preventive, remedial and social aspects of illness in older people. Their high morbidity rates, different patterns of disease presentation, slower response to treatment and requirements for social support call for special “medical skills”. The purpose is to restore an ill and disabled person to a level of maximum ability and wherever possible return the person to an independent life at home.
Internal Medicine
Evelyn Schwallenberg D.O. provides adult comprehensive internal medicine services emphasizing preventive care at 655 Main St., Saco, in association with SMMC PrimeCare Physician Services.
Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine
In addition to using all forms of medical treatment, doctors of osteopathy (D.O.s) use osteopathic manipulative techniques (OMT) to diagnose illness and treat their patients. Using OMT (the therapeutic application of manually guided forces to improve physiologic function or improve homeostasis), D.O.s bring an added dimension to healthcare, in the form of noninvasive therapy. When appropriate, OMT can be used in conjunction with (or in place of) medication or surgery.
Pediatrics
The study and the management of the care of infants and children, as well as the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of the diseases of infants and children through adolescence.
Primary Care
Primary care is that care provided by physicians specifically trained for and skilled in comprehensive first contact and continuing care for persons with any undiagnosed sign, symptom, or health concern. They work with the patient at the point of first contact and take continuing responsibility for providing the patient's care. Primary care practices provide health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, counseling, patient education, diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses in a variety of health care settings (e.g., office, inpatient, critical care, long-term care, home care, day care, etc.).
