Assistant Professor of Political Science: American Politics
The University of New England invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Political Science in the field of American Politics beginning fall 2009. The ideal candidate should have broad research interests and promise of excellent teaching and scholarship. Candidates should have a strong second field in addition to American politics, preferably Public Law, Comparative Politics or Political Theory. UNE’s Political Science Department values scholars whose work crosses traditional sub-field boundaries, respects methodological pluralism, and employs knowledge of political theory. Responsibilities will include teaching a range of courses in American politics, constitutional law, and legal theory, as well as a course in UNE’s core curriculum, and advising pre-law students. In addition to responsibilities in teaching and scholarship, the successful applicant will work with other faculty and administrators at UNE in developing our growing relationship with the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University. An additional benefit is the ability of a candidate who can teach classes on the politics of Asia or Latin America. Ph.D. required by time of appointment.
