Tenure Track Faculty Position

The Department of Physical Therapy at the University of New England is inviting applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in our Doctor of Physical Therapy program.  This position is a twelve-month appointment with teaching, scholarship, and service required.  Primary teaching needs are related to physical therapy management of patients and clients with problems of the musculoskeletal system or in the area of pediatric physical therapy.  Additional opportunities exist to teach in other courses in the curriculum, supervise student research, assist in clinical education, and participate in clinical practice.  Qualified applicants will have a doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D. preferred) and clinical experience related to teaching responsibilities.  Preference will be given to applicants with ABPTS certification and/or teaching experience.  Candidates must be eligible for physical therapy licensure in Maine.  Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications.

Our accredited program was established in 1980 and is an integral part of the College of Health Professions, offering opportunities for participation in the College’s various interdisciplinary initiatives.  These initiatives aim to provide students and faculty with opportunities to work collaboratively to promote the best possible care and health outcomes.  College and department facilities include a developing Biomechanics Lab with EMG, video analysis and force plate equipment, in addition to a LiteGait body-weight support system, and high-tech human patient simulators.

UNE is an independent, co-educational institution with two campuses on the southern coast of Maine.  The Physical Therapy program is located in Portland on the historic Westbrook College campus and is close to excellent medical facilities and clinics.  Portland is Maine’s largest city and the business, financial, medical, and retail center, yet its relatively small size provides an exceptional living environment.  A vibrant cultural atmosphere, with exceptional theater, concerts, and dining, characterizes Portland.  In addition, the seaside location provides ample opportunities for water recreation and is within easy driving distance to inland lakes and mountains.
