Job Description

The University of New England invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in the Department of Biology. Applicants will be expected to teach upper level courses in embryology and/or developmental biology, as well as contribute to existing courses (including introductory biology), and develop an active research program involving undergraduates and/or masters-level students. Individuals using modern techniques in cellular and molecular biology are particularly encouraged to apply. Requirements include a doctoral degree in a relevant field and evidence of teaching and research potential. 

The Department of Biology (/cas/biological/) has more than 600 students and 20 faculty and staff members. The Department of Biology offers 3 undergraduate majors (Aquaculture and Aquarium Science, Biology, Medical Biology) as well as a Master's in Biological Science.

The Departments of Marine Science and Psychology, with a new interdisciplinary neuroscience program, are both closely tied to the biology department. The University has established four centers of excellence for research and scholarship which build on existing strengths in marine science and neuroscience, global humanities and public health. The possibility for extra-departmental collaboration and mentorship exist within the department as well as from the broader university (College of Arts and Sciences /cas, College of Osteopathic Medicine /com, College of Health Professions /chp, and College of Pharmacy /cop).
