Basic Function

The Senior Research Associate/Director of Health Services Research will play a lead role in generating and completing health services and clinical research at the Center. The position requires a professional who is knowledgeable about health care in the US, highly trained in health research methods and analytical (statistical) techniques, works collaboratively with internal and external partners/stakeholders and exercises good judgment with respect to developing the Center as a leader in health services research and evaluation.

Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities

Primary

  • Effectively develops and provides scientific leadership on health services research and evaluation studies including clinical research.
  • Is thoroughly familiar with quantitative research methods utilizing primary and secondary quantitative health data sets.
  • Works with project manager to complete high quality research and evaluation projects on time and in budget.
  • Assists in planning project activities and maintaining task schedule.
  • Collects, records, analyzes and evaluates data; discusses and reports on findings.
  • Compiles, manipulates and manages data.
  • Monitors data and analysis for quality.
  • Prepares/leads preparation of grants, research and consulting reports.
  • Leads/assists with statistical analysis of results.
  • Presents projects findings to a variety of lay and scientific audiences.
  • Observes confidentiality and privacy rules and regulation.
  • Completes new employee orientation and sexual harassment training within 30 days of the date of hire.
  • Understands and complies with the University of New England Safety Manual.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervision Received

General supervision is received from the Executive Director

Qualifications

Doctorate in statistics, epidemiology, public health, demography, or related field, plus two to three years of relevant experience in health related research and data management, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.

  • Well-rounded knowledge of research methodology, procedures and analysis.
  • Advanced training in Statistics and GIS, strong computer skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpretative skills and excellent oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and assignment, work independently and be a team player.
