Job Description

The University of New England’s Master of Science Nurse Anesthesia Program, a fully accredited, master’s degree program based in Portland, Maine, is seeking a highly motivated and dynamic individual to serve as Program Director.

Represented by a diverse clinical and didactic faculty, the anesthesia program is part of the multi-disciplinary Westbrook College of Health Professions that also includes academic programs in nursing, dental hygiene, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social work, physician assistant training, athletic training, and exercise science. The University of New England, an acknowledged leader in health sciences and liberal arts education, also includes Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine, Pharmacy, and Arts and Sciences.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities for Program Director include: 1) providing leadership and mentoring for faculty and staff; 2) developing a progressive research, scholarship and service agenda; 3) developing resources and funding support; 4) developing and managing the program budget; 5) providing direct student instruction as part of the core teaching faculty; 6) facilitating the accreditation process; 7) overseeing didactic & clinical curriculum development; and; 8) representing the program to the College, University and community. Candidates should be effective leaders with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with all constituent groups, including students, faculty, staff and administration, as well as professional, governmental and community partners.

Qualifications

  • Possesses a master’s degree or higher (doctoral degree preferred)
  • Possesses current certification as a CRNA
  • Has prior clinical, academic, scholarship and/or research experience.
