Student Administrative Services Specialist
Basic Function:
To perform a variety of student administrative services in the areas of room scheduling, registration, student records, transcript production, and enrollment verification. Good customer service skills are required given significant customer contact. This position is primary at the WCC campus in Portland.
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:
All members of this class will perform the following duties and responsibilities:
- Participate in cross training for most functions in the registrar area.
- Participate in the delivery of student administrative services in the registrar’s office as outlined in the basic function above.
- Perform a variety of general clerical tasks, such as typing/word processing, filing, photocopying.
- Perform related duties as necessary.
Supervision Exercised:
Supervision of work study students (on occasion)
Supervision Received:
General supervision is received from the Associate or Assistant Registrar
Qualifications:
Associate degree with some college-level training or experience preferred, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
- General knowledge of academic environment
- Good basic reading, writing, and math skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Good basic administrative and organizational skills
- Some relevant training/experience with data entry and information retrieval from computerized data bases
- Able to deal courteously and effectively with a variety of individuals, including students, faculty, administrators, parents, and representatives of outside organizations
- Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information
