I2H2
Introducing I2H2: Integrated Interdisciplinary Health and Healing
The University of New England is training a new kind of health care professional.
Students in UNE's College of Health Professions are being educated using a revolutionary approach to health care education, training, research and practice. It is an integrated, interdisciplinary approach, which hospitals and health care facilities in the new collaborative environment demand - and clients and patients deserve.
We call it I2H2. And it brings together the very best from the entire spectrum of the health, healing and human services professions:
| |
• |
I2H2 allows students to take classes and interact with other students from a wide range of health care disciplines, providing a unique perspective on the total needs of individuals, families and communities. |
| |
|
|
| |
• |
I2H2 enhances UNE's already thriving collaborative training and research relationships with such care providers as Mercy Hospital, Maine Medical Center and Togus Veterans Administration Hospital. |
| |
|
|
| |
• |
I2H2 is also being fostered by the establishment of several interdisciplinary research and education centers within the College of Health Professions, such as the Center for Transcultural Health, the Center For Health Ethics, Law and Policy, the University of New England/Spurwink Center for Research, and the Center for the Arts and Social Transformation. |
The home of the I2H2 initiative is UNE's Westbrook College Campus in Portland, which recently underwent a series of exciting renovations and is the home of the College of Health Professions Clinical Simulation Program. The Clinical Simulation Program will be one component of the College of Health Professions' high tech Performance Enhancement and Evaluation Center.
