Services

The University of New England Information Technology Service provides both resident and commuting students with a variety of technology tools to aid in the learning experience. These services include:

  • High-speed Internet access available to each resident room.
  • Student computer labs equipped with Microsoft Office and high speed printers.
  • The Computer Store, where students can purchase a variety of consumables including CD media, disk keys, and cables.
  • The ITS Helpdesks at extension 2200 (UC) and extension 4400 (WCC) to assist in basic troubleshooting of computer and software issues.
  • myUNE is used for faculty and student communications (e-mail, clubs, groups, classes, message boards, etc.).
  • U-Online for registration and transcript information.
  • Learning.une.edu for online instruction.

Internet Uses

All students attending the University who hold a valid UNE photo ID card have access to the Internet in the computer labs and the libraries on both campuses. In addition, students can access the Internet via wireless or hardwire connections from their laptop computers. The University of New England has a Student Technology Survival Guide (pdf) which includes the following information:

  • Student IT - general information
  • Important: FYI - mandatory virus specifications
  • Student acceptable use policy
  • Computer requirements document
  • myUNE portal and email introduction and guide
  • Telephone, data, and TV jack information for residents

All students are required to have up-to-date virus protection running on their computer at all times. University of New England provides McAfee Viruscan Enterprise to all students for no charge.
